prosavage twisterk video driver

I have a very messed up fps when I have firefox running and firefox becomes very slow.

I tried following the instructions given at http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-244307.html, but I cant reconfigure xserver-org to recognize my driver which by the way is:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc. VT8636A [ProSavage KN133] AGP4X VGA Controller (TwisterK) (rev 01)

identical to the guy who asked in that thread.

And also

glxgears -printfps

gives me:

Usage:

  -fullscreen             run in fullscreen mode
  -info                   display OpenGL renderer info

I have no idea if the video driver is installed, or maybe if it is why is firefox so messed up? Can someone please help me?

Hi, I have the same graphics card and I'm wondering if you manage to get the Ubuntu visual effects working and 3d desktop effects working?

I just installed Ubuntu 8.10

Can it work with S3 Savage TwisterK graphics card? I'm not sure the drivers are installed correctly?

unfortenatly not.

With savage driver arround 230 FPS in 5 sec is about best you can do with DRI enabled.

Compiz will never speak with savage too
