I went to the manufacturers website and downloaded a .zip file. It might help if you could give us the link so we can all read from the same page.
Generally, the process is to install the tools needed to compile from source:

sudo apt-get install build-essential
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic
If you can see the .tar.gz in your home folder, or perhaps on your desktop, you should be able to right click the file and select 'Extract here.' A new folder will be created; for the moment, let's call it Encore_driver. Open a terminal, and assuming the folder is on your desktop, do:

cd Desktop/Encore_driver
less README.txt
It will explain the install process, which will typically be make, sudo make install, modprobe r2860.ko.
