HOWTO: Install Yahoo! Messenger for Linux

try gizmoproject for linux it can call yahoo and msn.

I have a problem with the configuration of both programs. In the configuration of Gaim there is no field to enter the login name and in the configuration of Yahoo messenger there is no field to enter the screen name.
Is there another messenger program in which I can configure both (different) names?

i hav a problem in opening ymessgr
During opening an error message came "status Error:dependancy is not satisfiable: libssl0.9.6"
how can i rectify this error.....

libssl0.9.6 is not available and hence could not yahoo messenger.

I have had some limited success installing yahoo messenger 7 (get it from filehippo) under wine. At first had zero success, but after I installed ies4linux, I tried again, then downloaded the full installer from filehippo, and got it partially running.

Still not running how it should, but feel like progress is being made.

I don't know why Yahoo is blowing off the *nix community. I manually downloaded the needed dependency .debs from Debian (www.packages.debian.org) to try it out when it started wanting X libs.

I changed some dependecies in yahoo messengers package and it will be installed with no problems

hey thanks dude i put linux on our home machine and my mom uses yahoo messenger and id hate to have to make her figure out pidgin (she tried before and didntl ike it )

well it didnt work that good so just usin the web based works fine.
