audio imput won't work

For some reason, my webcam works fine, but my audio input doesn't. So as a result, i get picture, but no sound. I am using a rather new hp Pavilion dv6662se Entertainment Notebook pc that was designed for Vista.

I am running Ubuntu 8.04 on it right now.

I have tried all of the available options for audio input listed when I try to configure my sound. Has anyone else has problems with this? Is there an easy solution that I'm just not seeing.

Did you try alsamixer (in terminal) and maxed capture and mic?

What sound card do you have (lspci in terminal to find out)

I tried alsamixer and maxed out the input volume and this was the result of my lspci:
