Sluggish .ogg Video Play

Hi,

I downloaded Big Bunny movie in .ogg format but when I play it in Ubuntu Hardy Totem, it is VERY sluggish. It would play properly for about 2 seconds, then it becomes a "frame-by-frame" experience. (see screenshot)

My system can play Doom 3 without a hitch, so hardware is not likely to be a problem.

Please help?

I think it's a Totem problem. Try playing the movie in VLC.

In my case even VLC doesn't work, it get stuck after the first or second frame. It's weird, since a couple of days ago it did work, I don't know what happened...

I downloaded the .ogg version because I wanted to support open source. But after Totem, VLC, MPlayer, Xine and Miro all failed to play the file smoothly, I am now going to download the .avi or .mpg version.

Hi,

I think I found the problem...

My screen resolution is 1280x800 but the version I downloaded was 1920x1080.

I downloaded the 1280x700 version (both .ogg and .avi) and both ran fine without a hitch. Between these two files, the .ogg filesize is half of the .avi, which means it is a space-saver. I am using earphones, so I cannot discern any sound quality differences between the two.

Could you please confirm that my conclusion is right? Thanks!
