Uninstall Google-Earth in Synaptic Package Manager (Complete Removal)
Install GoogleEarthLinux.bin
In Terminal:

sudo -i /home/your folder/desktop/GoogleEarthLinux.bin <return>

or type sudo -i and drag/drop GoogleEarthLinux.bin into Terminal window <return>
