Just download the SecondLife deb file, click on it (it's like and .exe file) and enjoy.

I don't think there is a secondlife.deb file. All I found is the tar.bz2. How do I install it?
I see your link now. Never mind and thanks

Just say no to tarballs!
I have Ubuntu, and I downloaded second life. I got both the SecondLife_i686_1_19_1_4.tar.bz2, and the
secondlife.deb file after reading this form.
Both seem to install everything, yet both create an executable text file
I try to run all kinds of ways and it always says "window creation error"!
****! What do I do now?
Are you running Compiz? If so try disabling it.
Also do you have the correct video card drivers installed?
Hey Everyone:
I'm a bit confused with this as well. I originally downloaded the tar file from the second life site, then when I opened it had no real idea where to extract it to, so I came here and found the link to the deb file. Downloaded that then did a Gdebi on it, things seemed to happen though took a lot less time than I thought it should for a download. Couldn't find an icon anywhere so did a find for the file. Found something in .kde... RecentDocuments that just appears to be a copy of the deb file.
Am I doing something wrong in installation? Should I drop to command and do a dpkg instead?
Thanks in advance.
