[SOLVED] new apple aluminium wired keyboard

I've just bought a new apple aluminum wired keyboard to use on my ubuntu PC and was wondering if i can use some of the other keys on ubuntu 8.4 such as the function keys?

I do not have that keyboard. What I suggest is to go to System>>Preferences>>Keyboard, click on the setup tab, choose Apple as the vendor, and take a look at the keyboard models listed, and try each one of them to see if any give you the functionality you desire. I'd start with the top one, "Apple", and go from there. HTH.

ok sorry about this it turns out there's a wiredly placed fn key i have to press at the same time lol

FWIW, I had the same issue with another keyboard, same solution; luckily, I found that just as I was composing a post.... Glad it was resolved.

The bug states that the patch is in kernel 2.5.26-rc4

if your keyboards gets into the "numlock mode" hitting F6 twice will change it back to normal.
