    Yes, I'am running breezy, and I installed the libraries through synaptic. Maybe I'm missing some other libraries.....Thanks for your quick post.

    No problem; make sure you have all the required libs by issuing the command
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install xcompmgr libxcomposite1 libxcomposite-dev libxfixes3 libxfixes-dev libxdamage1 libxdamage-dev libxrender1 libxrender-dev
    and try again.

    Thanks, it seems I was missing a couple of libraries.

    Im almost there. I followed all the steps but still the terminal uses a fake transparant (desktop picture). I don't see the folders under the terminal.
    My script looks like this:
    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    alltray -x -g +192+132 "gnome-terminal --window-with-profile=tterm" & sleep 2
    transset-df -n "tterm (AllTray)" 0.85
    It also opens at the upper left corner which is wrong.

    It looks like everything is installed:
    Code:
     admin@linux:~$ sudo apt-get install xcompmgr libxcomposite1 libxcomposite-dev libxfixes3 libxfixes-dev libxdamage1 libxdamage-dev libxrender1 libxrender-dev

    Exclamation Re: HOWTO: True or Pseudo-Transparent Borderless Pop-up Terminals

    when i open my terminal from the icon i get a normal transparent one, but when i execute the file i made with the .sh ending with the script
    #!/bin/bash
    alltray -x -st -g +1+28 "gnome-terminal --window-with-profile=Default" & sleep 3
    transset-df -n "tterm (AllTray)" 0.85
    i get this msg in the terminal that opens and the terminal qickly closes it's self:
    (gnome-terminal:8864): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_accel_label_set_accel_closure: assertion 'gtk_accel_group_from_accel_closure (accel_closure) !=NULL' failed
    is there any way to fix this? thanks in advanced

    The profile names you specify in the last two lines of the script are different; change your Gnome Terminal profile name to "tterm" and it should be fixed.

    Make sure the composite extension is working correctly. When you type
    Code:
    transset 0.5
    and click on a window does it become transparent? (make sure you have the package transset installed)

    This is a known bug and AFAIK it wasn't fixed. Still, check out the new version of xcompmgr from poofyhairguy's thread (linked in the original post), maybe it's fixed there. I never maximize windows so it hasn't been an issue for me.

    It is not fixed, I just tried it. Not too important, but still annoying.
