Here is my tterm script in case it might help anything:

    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    alltray -x -st -g +457+387 "gnome-terminal --window-with-profile=tterm" & sleep 1
    transset-df -n "tterm (AllTray)"  0.70
    Nothing seems wrong with your script; did you make it executable?

    Did you enable the composite extension the way I described in step 5? If so, what's your video hardware?

    Yep, perhaps I should elaborate on my last post. I run my script from an already open ordinary terminal, it successfully runs and gives me a working terminal icon in the xfce icon tray. Running the same script using a launcher or putting a copy of it in ~/Desktop/Autostart doesn't give my any terminal tray icon or any indication that the program successfully executed at all. Maybe I have to do something special with xfce?

    THANK YOU .. BEST HOW TO EVER

    alltray owns. i'm looking into using wmctrl to hide the terminal on the taskbar, i think it can be done - i used it to do this with aterm in fluxbox.

    well it sorta works

    wmctrl -i -r `wmctrl -l | grep "(AllTray)" | awk '{ print $1 }'` -b toggle,skip_taskbar

    that works until you click the icon on the system tray to bring it back, then the taskbar thing comes with it. i'm gonna look at the alltray source and see if i can make that command execute when the icon is clicked. maybe i'll make a litte checkbox on the menu to show / hide the taskbar icon.

    also this assumes there is only one window using all tray open. i'll have to think of a way around that later, i think wmctrl suppors using PIDs.

    ok there is no need to do anything like that

    i downloaded the source for alltray, made a few small changes and it no longer shows anything in the taskbar.

    in src/utils.c, comment out the if statements on lines 1908 and 1919, so skip_tasklist() gets called no matter what. also change FALSE to TRUE on line 1920.

    do ./configure && make && make install and that's that . not the best solution but a quick and easy one that works just fine for me. any questions post here or PM me and i'll explain better.

    is it possible to stick the terminal to the background?
    and is it possible to use alltray with option -s and hide the terminal from the tasklist?

    btw, great howto, it's working almost perfectly

    Hi guys,

    I am not sure why, but it is not stable on my system. Sometimes i got a transparent terminal. And most of the time I got a white terminal as the thumbnail below.

    Could 23meg or anyone help me, thanks for your time

    here is my script:
    ==============
    #!/bin/bash
    alltray -x -st -g +97+110 "gnome-terminal --window-with-profile=tterm" & sleep 2
    transset-df -n "tterm (AllTray)" 0.35
