    Programing

    I am basicaly a java and c c++ programer.

    I am using windows for these programing.

    Could any one help me which are the best IDE for programing these two languages and how to install them in my ubuntu 8.04.

    If you could post some links like getting started with specific IDE i will be much thankfull.

    There is a programming section of these forums where this question might get more attention: http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=39. People are going to tell you that Eclipse or emacs are reasonable tools but, in reality, vim is the finest editor available to humanity.

    Don't try to make something "fast" until you are able to quantify "slow".

    For Java (although there are many IDEs) the following two do the job pretty well:-
    ECLIPSE
    NETBEANS

    and if you like to use text editors:
    gedit (default)
    JEDIT - I do some macro programming using this editor

    Eclipse is a good IDE for Java.

    For a good editor consider geany.
