xorg.conf setup for ATI RADEON 2400

hey, i was wondering how to set up my xorg.conf for my video card. i'm running xubuntu 8.04, and my video card is an ATI RADEON HD 2400.

this is the output of my xorg.conf
    Code:
    # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
    #
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    #
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
    #
    # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    #
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

seems like the driver is installed properly, just don't know how to setup the xorg.conf. any help would really be appreciated, thanks!

It looks right, the issue is that majority of configuration is not done in Xorg.conf anymore (iirc). If you install the catalyst control center you can configure monitors and display settings.

Re: xorg.conf setup for ATI RADEON 2400

If it works, it is already configured correctly.
If you want to change some settings or add some optional lines to xorg.conf, you could use aticonfig.
    Just type
    Code:
    aticonfig
in a terminal to see the manual, and use
    Code:
    sudo aticonfig --whatever
if you want to have it add something to xorg.conf.
