Mouse stops working after opening tab?

My mouse works fine until I open a second tab. Then it just freezes up and doesn't work. If I put the computer asleep and then wake it up the mouse works just fine.When the mouse freezes up everything else works fine. I can navigate using the tab key. The pointer just stays in one spot.
Any ideas?

Well now my mouse just stops working at all. Iv restarted my computer several times and the mouse will work for about the first 2 mintues then nothin.The pointer stays in one place and none of the mouse buttons work. I can still navigate with the key board. Dont know if this is related but my monitor doesnt want to turn back on once I restart the computer. I have to un-plug everything for a few minutes then re-plug everything back in and the monitor will come back on.
Any suggestions? Also-when I do have to navigate by the keyboard how can I open the things on the "Appliciations Places System" tabs? Iv tried the tab and shift key and get nothing.
