    Question Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook 4010

Hi. I am trying to help my dad out with his laptop. He had problems with stability in windows, so I talked him into trying to swap for Ubuntu. But it turns out, there is probably not a software-related problem causing the instability.

    Theese are the problems:

1: Hard to turn on. Sometimes you need to press a certain place on the laptop, in addition to pressing the startbutton. When you try to start the laptop, the fan starts up, but nothing else. Also its harder to get to start when only on battery power than on AC.

2: Frequent shutdowns with no warning. Reminds me of a overheatingproblem. More stable in ubuntu, but still problematic. Lasts between 5 min -> 1 h. before doing a uncontrolled shutdown.

Any ideas on what it is? More likely to be a hardwareproblem than software imo, it might be the fan?

    Any ideas apriciated.
