Download the tarball (tar.gz) and follow the installation directions on the site.
You are going to need build-essential to compile it.
Or you can go here and get the .deb:
http://www.getdeb.net/search.php?keywords=songbird
Install that via gdebi.
I think the .tar.gz is a precompiled binary, actually. I don't think it has to be compiled, just symlinked properly once extracted.
Okay, I'm confused.
Do I install the .deb file from GetDeb or do I use the .tar.gz file?
When I extract it, there is a file called songbird, and it has no . extension to it.
Do I click that?
NVM, I clicked on the songbird file and Songbird started.
I decided I didn't like it and got rid of the .songbird1 file from my home directory and deleted the extracted file as well as the .tar.gz.
Is there anything else I need to do to get rid of it completely?
Also, how come when I delete a .whatever file, it doesn't show up in Trash?
One of the advantages of the .DEB format is not only ease of installation, but also ease of removal.
See the New Ubuntu User's Resource, listed below in my SIG - under the JUST BEGINNING section, look for the link to INSTALL SOFTWARE - the same utility is used to install and to remove apps.
