    Visual effects could not be enabled

    Hello all i m new to ubuntu. I ve just installed Ubuntu but i cannot enable visual effects. When i click on normal or extra visual effect i get a message telling "Desktop effects could not be enabled". Any suggestion pls?


    My graphics card is Sapphire x1650 Agp.

    hi i have the same cards fitted you need to go to ati site and get there linux drivers
    you wont get the cube effect though im still trying to get that,

    well when i download the drivers from ati 's site i just get a black screen after the bar loading..and i can do nothing...just reboot..please any suggestions? i ve been trying to figure this out almost a month...reinstalled ubuntu more than 50 times!
