    not necessarily a dual-core, a decent graphic card and sufficient ram ((2 gb I'd say) are more important

    I disagree on both dual-core and not, and agree on the RAM. I'd say Core2Duo and 2GB is a bare minimum to where Vista's perfomance tangents Xp running on single-core (1GHz) and 1GB RAM.

    Stumbled over this link at Wikipedia.

    The whole intention of an upgrade is to improve. Thus, it seems people saying switching from vista to xp is an upgrade are correct. On the other hand, because of the definition, switching from xp to vista is also and improvement.

    Interesting....very interesting. It seems I have as much a right to say I want to upgrade to xp from vista, than to downgrade from vista to xp. I'll be sticking with 'upgrade', since my goal is better performance.

    Not all Wikipedia article are credible, though.
