New to Ubuntu: Wireless Adapter and graphics card?

New to Ubuntu and new to the forums of course. Just installed Ubuntu 8.04, and I'm having a few problems.

    - First, the graphic card seems to be kind of weird, when I open up a new window (say a flash drive pops up) and drag it around or close it, there's blackspots everywhere...(that you can get rid of by clicking over it though.)

    - The wireless adapter doesn't seem to be detected at all. I found a tutorial on how to set it up but it wasn't for 8.04 and it also wasn't clear, hopefully I can get some more concise steps right here.

    Specs:
    Dell Dimension 9100
    Intel Pentium D 2.4ghz
    1GB Ram
    gfx: ATI Radeon x300
    wireless adapter: Netgear WG121

Help much appreciated. Keep in mind that I'm completely new to Linux so I will probably need help step by step.

Re: New to Ubuntu: Wireless Adapter and graphics card?

Found another one of my wireless adapters, Linksys WUSB11. It detects it now, but it just won't connect, it keeps asking for the WEP over and over...and the graphics is still a problem.
