how to get the webserver online

ok i got the server stuff installed...(lamp) got my first bit of html done for my home page, and i got my ip address...

can someone help me with configuration so i can get my server up..THANKS!!!

Are you behind a router?

What kind of router?

Is it a static IP?

If a dynamic IP, are you using a dynamic IP service so you can find your IP?

Give us more info.....

no router...direct conncetion to the net...(im getting a router next week though...but i want it running for now).........actually i dont know if the vonage box i have works as a router or a switch...it has its own mask and other stuff..

it is a static ip.

anyway you can go to 565customz.com and see what you see?

using apache (of course) mysql tomcat and gproftpd.

i also have bind 9 installed but i havent done any configuration to it at all

you need to have port 80 opened for this.. try this online port scanner http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scanner/ and check to see if port 80 is opened or not

no i havent messed with it cuz im tryin to get the server edition to work properly...and google has my name server stuff locked for 60 days until i can transfer to go daddy

I am not sure if i should open a new thread for this. I am trying to get my home web server online, i installed ubuntu hardy heron server edition on vmware. i am behind a router and my eth0 interface is bridged to my host OS internet connection. my public ip and my private one are both static.i have bind9 and LAMP installed but i have no clue how to configure them to get my web server up and running. i tried looking for a tutorial on the net but i haven't found for hardy heron. if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it.
