is there any vm app out there that is good at reading hardware peripherals?

maybe my webcam should already show up in vmware or virtualbox, as i don't think i have it using the right driver, can't remember what i'm using and which i'm supposed to be using but i think its V4L that i should be using, but i digress..

vmware and vb are the only VMs that i've used. my company is sending everyone to work from home w/ webcam meetings, but they are using a MS client to do so. I'm afraid i'm going to have to install an actual windows installation just for this task and i'm reeeeally not wanting to. help?
