# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by failsafeDexconf, using
# values from the debconf database and some overrides to use vesa mode.
#
# You should use dexconf or another such tool for creating a "real" xorg.conf
# For example:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Backup your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file then copy the edited version of your xorg.conf (replacing all texts found on your current xorg.conf file) file listed below to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Then restart.
Code:
Here is your edited xorg.conf file:sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.bak
sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
I used the guide I posted in here.Code:#----------------------------Start copying from Here------------------- # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file) # # This file was generated by failsafeDexconf, using # values from the debconf database and some overrides to use vesa mode. # # You should use dexconf or another such tool for creating a "real" xorg.conf # For example: # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Generic Keyboard" Driver "kbd" Option "XkbRules" "xorg" Option "XkbModel" "pc104" Option "XkbLayout" "us" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Configured Mouse" Driver "mouse" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Configured Video Device" Boardname "NVIDIA GeForce 8 Series" Busid "PCI:1:0:0" Driver "nv" Screen 0 Vendorname "NVIDIA" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Configured Monitor" Vendorname "Acer" Modelname "Acer AL2216Wc" HorizSync 30-110 VertRefresh 50-160 EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Device "Configured Video Device" Monitor "Configured Monitor" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1280x1024" EndSubSection EndSection Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Default Layout" screen 0 "Default Screen" 0 0 EndSection Section "Module" Load "glx" Load "GLcore" Load "v4l" EndSection Section "ServerFlags" EndSection #----------------------------EOF-------------------

Steady movement is more important than speed, much of the time. So long as there is a regular progression of Stimuli to get your mental hooks into, there is room for lateral movement. Once this begins, its rate is a matter of discretion.
thanks iaculallad
but it doesn't work
i googled around a bit & can't seem to find anyone who has successfully handled this 8800GT + linux problem.
looks like i bought another garbage video card.
Try following up with this thread, seems like they had [Solved] the issue with GeForce 8800GT failing Xorg. Try post number 6 by PmDematagoda. Hope that will resolve your issue.
