torrents make wireless card not work/respond

Whenever I run my torrent client to download files, it will work for some time (10 minutes or so) before I notice a sudden loss of network activity. No upload/No download. The wireless network continues to be seen and it continues to "connect" to my wireless router, but no local or global connections work. By local i mean, I can't even connect to 192.168.2.1 to get to my routers settings. I've simply restarted my computer and everything works again, until i start torrenting. Any suggestions on even a command which will totally restart my network or somehow fix/prevent this. I use ndiswrapper on a HP DV6000 laptop for my drivers, cause its a winmodem.

Bump. I have the same problem. It's very annoying. Please help...my wireless card is USB rtl8187, but i suspect it's not related to specific hardware as i 've seen other people with different cards have this problem. It's dissapointing to have to login to Windows just to download a torrent..
