This was suggested at our informal meeting by one of our active members (thanks a ton, mrtsunami!):

In an effort to help improve attendance at our meetings (which are not that many...and needs to be improved) I am offering to Instant Message (IM) whoever wishes to be IMed about the meetings in advance.

The frequency will be as follows:
1 day in advance
and then 1 hour or 30 minutes before the meeting begins

All you have to do to be on my IM list is simply send me a private message on this message board and bam, you're signed up.

Don't worry, I won't share your IM name with anyone. It's completely confidential.

This is only an effort to improve meeting attendance and foster communication. You can always use it to communicate with me as well.

If you would like my IM name, please just let me know via a PM and I will be happy to provide it (and just ask for which protocol [service]).
