    Setting Default Programs

Ok I have wondered how to do this for a long time and have never really figured it out. When I open up like a music file or something like that totem comes up and a PDF the document viewer comes up but I want to know how I change what opens the files by default. Like for PDF I want Adobe and for music I want Rhythmbox and for video VLC. How would I do this? Thanks.

I always right click a file - go to properties, then open with and choose there - if the program you want isn't in the list add it
