The Thinkpads are nice, but I would be sure to stay away from Toshibas. That is just my opinion but I have had quite a hard time with mine.

Also, be aware, if you buy a wifi device in the United States or Canada, it might not work properly in other parts of the world.
Dell Inspiron 1525. I ordered it without extra stuff (no Office, no Office-like come-ons). This one runs Windows Vista SP1 for family, and Hardy Heron for me. Can't complain!

Anyone who uses phrases like Winblows, or M$, or Microsucks, etc. are not doing the Linux world any favors.
i wouldnt recomend a HP dv6000 range, all other HPs are fine just the dv6000 range have a tendancy to have screen issues where the motherboard has to be replaced. ( ideal with all the customer repairs in store and 99% of HPs that need repairing are dv6000, with the screen error)
hope this helps

Toshiba laptops are really compatible.
Find a laptop that says Intel Centrino. They are very Linux compatible.
Windows, only good for gaming.
