Tascam US-122 initialized, but there is no sound :(

Hey guys/girls,
I've installed 8.04 and Im trying to use Tascam US-122 as my sound card.
I've used the needed firmware and the led on the device is actually ON, which means its supposed to do the work, but in reality, i hear absolutely nothing... except the default Ubuntu login sound, the one with the little drum roll.....
There are no OTHER sounds whatsoever.

Needless to mention that the card is fully operational with other OS (cough XP cough)

I Googled for a while, but then I decided to consult the local geniuses, so PLEASE HELP
