    Post Best laptop for linux

I'm looking for a 14" laptop to run any kind of linux on. Right now, i don't have much time to research between my 2 jobs, so i thought i would post here. I want something will eye appeal and nice aesthetics. 14" would be a plus, or smaller. I'm thinking of a Mac Book/Pro, but im not sure how they handle.

    3 Requirenmnets:

    1. Wireless Card Must Support Monitor Mode, OOB (Out Of Box)
    2. Must Be Upgradable/Scalable
    3. Must Support ACPI/APIC, Hibernate, Sleep, Functions Keys OOB.

Thanks for any help. I attached a poll, please post your laptops specs and the kernel version (if modified), and your Ubuntu/Linux version. Thanks a lot!

IMHO don't worry about the manufacturer, but the chipset and specs.

All manufacturers have more than one chipset "SIS, AMD, VIA and Intel", Wireless card "get way from Broadcom" and Video card " Intel, NVIDIA and ATI".

Normally if you stick with Intel, you will have less compatibility problems ...

    Re: Best laptop for linux

Yeah, the only chipsets i have had in the past are nforce2, nforce4, nforce 520m, and 680i. The only video cards i use are nvidias, and back in the day of my old HP dv9000z the broadcom chipsets never were supported oob, which means i cant use monitor mode. my hp dv9700z (AMD) kernel panics on boot in just about every distro, i386 and amd64, and when i had the Atheros AR5007EG, it required ndiswrapper/madwifi, which doesnt support mon. The goal of this thread is to find out the models of the notebook/tablets that people have had success with, so i can make a chart as to what is better supported.
