    video editing software

I'm looking for a very, very simple video editor. All I need it to do is merge videos, and if possible, cut and paste. Is there a program like this available for ubuntu? I had been using ArcSoft TotalMedia Extreme in Windows (it came with my camera).

Avidemux (available from repositories) would be the most suitable for your intended purposes.

Yep go with avidemux for the merging/transcoding of videos.
