manual installation => better stability ?

Hi, I've read elsewhere that an installation of a simple command-line system (from an alternate cd for example), followed by manual installation of the other components, say something like this:

    sudo aptitude install xorg
    sudo aptitude install metacity
    sudo aptitude install gdm
    sudo aptitude install gnome-terminal
    sudo reboot
    sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop

would lead to improved stability compared to an standard installation.
I can't figure out the reasons for that supposed 'improved stability', but have no arguments to discard it either. Anyone knows about it, or tried out that way?
    Greetings

In some way, it would provide stability because it gives you more control/option on the installation process. Like choosing which module to install into the kernel, a choice of which boot loader you wanted to be installed (i.e:LILO/GRUB). In one way or the other, their isn't big difference on both.
Steady movement is more important than speed, much of the time. So long as there is a regular progression of Stimuli to get your mental hooks into, there is room for lateral movement. Once this begins, its rate is a matter of discretion.
