I was messing with my wireless and screwed it up. It took some time to remember how to reconfigure my router and 2 computers. After I got things going I realised that things didn't seem right.
When I reboot it takes 21 seconds for my desktop to appear. Then it takes another 31 seconds for the program icons to appear at the bottom of the desktop. Then when I click on the Firefox icon the rectangular Firefox button on the taskbar takes 15 seconds to appear then immediately disappears for another 30 seconds before Firefox actually opens.
When I rebooted I got a message about a routine disk check.
Even aside for this problem I had suspected for some time that my pc was running slow but I was never sure. So I quess my first question is, how to tell if things are happening at the correct speed on a computer? For instance, how long show it take for web pages to load? How long for programs to start?
And now, what happened to my Firefox and what should I do?
