    [SOLVED] [keyboard] Repetitive strokes

When I press a key, say, once, ubuntu interprets it as multiple keystrokes. When I was typing the title, I pressed "v", and instead got "vvvvvvvvvvv". Help? I also get delays before strokes, too. I am running 8.10, and this started when I started upgrading, played teewars for a bit, found that it was unplayable because of an extreme case of this. I then stopped the upgrade, tried playing again, noticed no change, then decided to upgrade again. Teeworlds still has an extreme case of the problem.

I'm assuming you meant 8.04, not 8.10 because 8.10 doesnt exist yet.

    1. Never interrupt upgrades.

Thanks, but what do I do then?
Is this a hint or something?

I think that should be System > Preferences > Keyboard > General.

The first option is Key presses repeat when key is held down.

You could either disable it entirely, or just give it a longer delay.

Isn't there a better solution? Others don't use this workaround, and setting a longer delay solves nothing. I wonder if it's a keyboard problem.

If you're wondering, then it probably is a keyboard problem... Try a live cd of a different release, or even a different distro, and see if this behaviour is persistent.

My keyboard sometimes gives me endless "enters" in Hardy, but it behaves perfectly normal in Feisty. At first I thought it was the keyboard, too, but now I think it's a bug.

Never mind, moved to new computer and this is fixed.
    SOLUTION: Reinstall ubuntu.
