Re: What kind of computer do you use?- Super Thread
My primary LinUX box, which I gave the name "Hot Rod gPC," is quite a bit of gear from different sources. Originally purchased as a stock Everex® TC2502 (1.5 GHz VIA® C7-D CPU, CN700 northbridge and VT8237R+ southbridge, UniChrome™ GPU), it has been rebuilt to pack an Antec® TruePower® 750 Blue™ power-supply unit, Gigabyte® GA-MA78GM-S2HP Micro-ATX motherboard (Advanced Micro Devices® 780G northbridge and SB700 southbridge, ATi® Radeon® HD™ 3200 GPU), 2.9 GHz Advanced Micro Devices® Athlon 64® X2 5600+ MPU, and Creative Laboratories® SB0350 Sound Blaster® Audigy 2™ ZS™ audio card and SB0250 Audigy™ I/O Drive.
The above hardware have been running on all-FOSS core software since Ubuntu® 10.04-LTS and I am currently watching several Threads at Ubuntu® +1™ for any serious delays involving Ubuntu® 14.01a2 and the 14.04-LTS development process - I had to reinstall Microsoft® Windows® 7.0.8001 (MultiProcessor Kernel 6.1.7601) on an Asus® CM1630-06 when its hardware (2.9 GHz Advanced Micro Devices® Athlon II® X2 220 MPU, 760G northbridge, SB710 southbridge, Radeon® HD™ 6850 GPU; Asus® AV-100 audio, sourced from C-Media International Inc.) panicked LinUX Kernel 3.13.0-4-generic too consistently to continue testing Ubuntu® 13.12a1.
