how to run Zend Encoded PHP files on ubuntu 8.04?

I've installed zend-framework on working apache2+php5 config. But when I try to run php script it shows php file as raw file. Something like this displayed
    Code:
    Zend?2006022801?2?0?3?4578?22048?x ?2?^(2)r??Y?f15w3??*W&S?G$R\($M???T?lS?@@)?}?=Cvx??acN??^(2)ca?R?c}h6>t?>?fLf?Ii1 Ut??oN^.7 [?+?j?Sr?M??&}^?/*?*_?'/???}) .??~O??O?.l oc_8???D???

    ...skipped...
    Thanks for any help.

Check the encoding of the files.
I do not use Ubuntu any more, nor have I ever used Gnome. Therefore, I tend to give advice that is distro- and DE-agnostic, which, while perhaps not the easiest way, will allow you to move freely between machines.
