ACPI events on laptop under KDE 4

Hey guys, I usually use gnome however I installed kde4 through the repositories and the only things that doesn't appear to be working are the ACPI events. They work fine in gnome however I'm not sure how to test the KDE equivalent. None of the screen brightness or volume controlls do anything at all. Any ideas on how i can fix this ? Copy settings from gnome? For reference its a Dell M1730 running Ubuntu Hardy with GDM as the default desktop manager.
    Thanks

I'm using kde4.1 beta 2 with an Macbook and really prefer kde over Leopard but I would also like to configure ACPI events (like closing laptop) as I can in MacOS....

    Any ideas ?

    Regards, Alexander
