    Laptop battery performance

    Hi all,

Since switching to Ubuntu as my main o/s on my laptop, I've noticed a big difference in battery life. I have my LCD brightness lower than I did in vista but my battery life tops out at 3 hours in Unbuntu. I vista i was getting nearly 4 hours.

Anyone have any ideas? Laptop is a toshiba portege R500.

    Thanks

I would check out, www.lesswatts.org and install the powertop tool:

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install powertop
    sudo powertop
Power savings in linux is very good but, very little of it is enabled by default in Ubuntu.
Don't try to make something "fast" until you are able to quantify "slow".
