I recently purchased a USB microphone to use with games because I could not follow the whole concept of separating mixes and the ALSAs and the OSSes and the AOSSes and blah blah... I tried every possible combination of options I feel.
Ubuntu detects my Gigaware USB microphone just fine. The only problem is that while it detects the "USB Audio Device (ALSA Mixer)" and recognizes it as a capture device... no series of option selections or deselections seems to let me pick up sound with the mic. With the analog mic I could at least pick up sound on my own speakers.
Please help if you can, or redirect me to a good post or guide about it.
Thank you.
-- The headset part of the USB audio does work. When I test the microphone in Sound Preferences it gives me this buzzing sound... I'm not sure that's what I'm looking for.
