    xsane error, please help

    I have a Brother MFC420CN installed on 7.10. Printer works fine and set up xsane no problen. Now I am gettting following error message:

    No device found 'brother2:net1;dev0':
    Invalid argument

    Please help me. I have spent hours searching for the answer.

    I don't have the MFC420CN so I can't give you any help on that,but this thread helped me to setup my Brother DCP-120C printer/scanner.

    The section at the end is for setting up scanners.

    I'm trying to connect to the scanner while it is connected to another computer via USB. This works for printing, I can print with it from Ubuntu Hardy as it is being a network printer, but not network scanner. Those instructions are for connection via USB not network. Any ideas?
