I just got Ubuntu installed for the first time, and my wired ethernet is working fine. My wireless, on the other hand, not so much. Wifi-radar and iwlist scan picks up wireless networks fine (but lists them as B instead of G, but whatever).
However, connecting them via wifi radar, I get "IP not obtained." I have entered the proper 64-bit WEP key as hexidecmial, etc, etc.
Netapplet does not work either.
When I try to connect to my router directly via 192.168.1.1 in firefox, I get a peculiar error: "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.1.1...Though the site seems valid, the browswer was unable to establish a connection."
From lspci:
0c:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM94311MCG wlan mini-PCI (rev 01)
I installed the driver through synaptic: b43-fwcutter version 1:011-1 (latest version)
My router is Verizon Fios MI424WR.
Thanks!
