Sound disapears some times- restored on logout/login

    Hi

Been having this issue for the last few days, Some times my sound just stops working, VLC,totem youtube. they just don't emit any sound. but it completely restored on logging out of gnome and then logging back in again.

Is there any way i could just re-start my "sound" part with out losing my session?

or is there a way of fixing this

    OS
    Ubuntu Hardy 8.04
    Gnome 2.22.1

I am sure you would need more to help me out but not sure what other details to give.

    Thanks

After I visit the site with streaming audio e.g. http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901 I can no longes hear any sound in Amarok or other audio software. I have to log out and login again to make sound work. What can be a problem?

    OS Ubuntu 8.04 i386

[EDIT] Actually sound disappears whenever I watch youtube or some other flash on the web.

Ok I have found the temporary fix: I started to use SMplayer instead for Amarok and now I can hear sound even after watching youtubes.
Still believe the behaviour of the sound is not standard

    [EDIT] didnt work either

BUMP ... any fixes for this issue? Seems to be common problem, I know of another user who has this problem too.

Would love to hear some suggestions on what details to provide to begin debugging this.

    Let me know.
    Brandon.
