Noob ALSA question: Setting USB Mic as Default Input
I have a USB mic which works great in Ubuntu. I can get it to record in Audacity just fine, but I have to select the mic specifically as an input. I'd like it to be work under ALSA--default because I'm trying to route the audio to a VirtualBox guest OS (xp SP2). I am not sure about all of the different sliders on ALSA and want to make sure that everything except for the USB mic is muted (esp. the built-in mic) so that I can get the cleanest possible audio into the guest.
I've played around with all of the sliders and just can't get it to send the USB through ALSA to the guest.
Any help? Should I install a different audio manager? If so, which one?
