EDIT: Although this PPA contains packages for 32bit and 64bit users, the latest Flash won't work for 64bit users at the moment. Some extra 32bit libraries need to be added to the ia32-lib package (and it's tough to modify a 450mb+ source package), so I'll try to create a supplement package. Since I don't have a 64bit machine, it may take a little while to get this sorted. Thanks for your patience
Hi everyone,
Last night I finally set up my PPA. I have uploaded the newest release candidate of Flash 10, as well as ALSA & PulseAudio packages backported from Intrepid (with added tweaks and fixes from the guide included). I invite everyone to thoroughly test these packages!
1a. Remove obsolete packages and configuration files:
Code:
$ sudo apt-get remove libflashsupport
$ sudo rm ~/.pulse/* ~/.asoundrc* /etc/asound.conf
1b.
(i386 users only): remove obsolete nspluginwrapper package:
Code:
$ sudo apt-get remove nspluginwrapper
2. Add my PPA to your sources.list:
Code:
$ gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
Add the following lines to the end, and save:
Code:
# PulseAudio Fixes - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=5587712
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/psyke83/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/psyke83/ubuntu hardy main
3. Update your repository lists, then upgrade your system (answer
Yes to install unsigned packages):
Code:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
4. Set PulseAudio as the default ALSA device:
Code:
$ asoundconf set-pulseaudio
After logging out and back in, everything should work correctly! These packages will install PulseAudio complete with tweaks to reduce stuttering/CPU usage, and Flash 10 (release candidate). Finally, Flash & PulseAudio work correctly without crashes!
Any feedback on the packages would be appreciated (it's my first attempt, so there could be issues). Thanks.
