Why can some DVDs be copied and others can't??(FIRST POST)

First off, I must say that after my first install and successful driver install, i am absolutely BLOWN AWAY WITH UBUNTU!! Absolutely fallen in love with this OS, its like discovering computers all over again, I will NEVER go back to windows...

    Now then...

I'd like to make backups of my dvds, and i'm coming accross a problem. Some of these dvds like girls gone wild, and some music video dvds rip and copy just fine, but others like actual major motion pictures can't be read. I also notice that when I try to watch a dvd, the dvd appears to be playing back all jittered (Maybe a codec)

Dunno, but if anyone has any ideas, that'd be great..

If someone asks you to sudo rm -rf anything, don't do it, and don't run any command with rm in it unless you know exactly what you're doing.things i have learnt changing from Xp pro to Ubuntu
