Just use VMware or Virtualbox if you must have XP. I've thought I was going to reinstall windows and do a dual boot many times, but I've never actually done it. It took me a bit to fully adjust to Linux, and now it feels great. Right now, there's no reason at all for me to put Windows back on here. It would just be a hassle and not worth it.
This isn't Windows.

Songbird (www.songbirdnest.org)
Its good, it crashes every once and a while, and its fairly buggy, but for the most part it works fine, and you can organize it just like iTunes.
I can't help with your other complaints, and I don't care to. Even if you still go back to XP, check out songbird...

I didn't have ANY problems with any of my hardware, or any of my two mp3 players and 2 data sticks, my external floppy drive (parents need it sometimes) and my paren'ts 2 usb sticks. They all worked out of the box.
It's just a question of luck
Yer well, I miss Photoshop for some features but doing it in GIMP makes it more fun, I think purely a case of not giving up some luxuries and pirated Windows software.
