well, we're gettin a little off topic here, but ill try to help, or at least get enough info out of you to let someone else help

    results of
    fdisk -l (sudo?)

    next, results of
    blkid

    next, contents of
    /etc/fstab

if its giving you a mount point error, maybe give what
    ls -la
looks like in the directory CONTAINING the mountpoint... not inside the mountpoint itself

hopefully, we'll get you squared away

    Re: HowTo: Automount NTFS Drives

Question: Why did they stop auto-mounting NTFS drives in 8.04? They auto-mounted in 7.10, seems like a step backwards to me. Is it a bug or did they remove the feature?

    Re: HowTo: Automount NTFS Drives

    They didn't auto-mount in 7.10

You'll find that in both 7.10 and 8.04 the NTFS drive would appear under Places, and you had to click them to mount them.

The method I described in the original post just provides an easy way to auto-mount the drives

    Re: HowTo: Automount NTFS Drives

Im positive they did auto-mount, otherwise I wouldn't of noticed them not auto-mounting? The NTFS drive always appeared on my desktop, mounted, in 7.10 right out the box.

Either way, I installed ntfs-config to mount them on start up (didn't need this in 7.10)

Hmm, strange - I had to install ntfs-config to auto-mount them in 7.10 (and 7.04)

    Are you using NTFS config?

Also do you have any drives currently mounted?

    Thanks for the advice Joeb454,
That was exactly what I was looking for!

Now Amarok won't keep getting confused when all that work from scanning my music collection disappears every time I reboot.
