    HP printer and Ubuntu

Ok I downloaded the newest version of Ubuntu, now the printer configuration screen it shows idle, I tried to print a test page and still no go. It dosent seem to see the printer at all. I hit the verify button and it cant find it. The printer is showing and the path looks ok,
I have deleted the printer and tried to reinstall still no joy.
I checked in services and printer is checked and I looked and there were several hp items in the Synaptic and downloaded them. still no go.
    Thanks for the help guys

What printer exactly do you have? Some HPs require a firmware upload from the system every time they're powered on.
