vinyl to cd

Hello All,
I have a lot of vinyl records that I would like to put on cd or dvd if I can.I have an athlon 1800+ cpu,512 ddr ram and Hardy Heron 8.04.
What equipment and software would I need to accomplish this task.

I used in with a windows machine (I had no turntable)

Not sure if Maplins is an option for you but there must be similar elsewhere.

Alternatively your sound card should have an audio in socket that you could use from your HiFi system that you could use

The maplins setup looks like just the thing.I'm in australia so it looks a bit pricey by the time it gets here but must be something like it here.
Will try the line in on soundcard when I get a chance.My old turntable is broken at present.
