Thunderbird failed to connect to server after upgrade to Hardy Heron

Congrats to Ubuntu team at Canonical for release of Hardy Heron.

I upgraded to machines in parallel from Gutsy Gibbon to Hardy Heron.
Both were x64 machines. On the laptop all was well. On my desktop I no longer have a working Thunderbird (works fine on laptop). Any action in thunderbird say "Failed to connect to server".

Has any one seen this? I would be grateful if I could someone to help me fix the problem quickly as most of my email filters are on that machine.
