MythTV Frontend / backend together or apart?

I keep reading that there should be no problem running a frontend on the master, but I find I get various issues when they are both on the same box.

What kind of setup does the majority of Myth users have, and do they find it stable?

I know that some do both (as I do). If you do both, please vote yes.

I use both mainly because I don't feel much like archiving across the network. The only time I use the frontend on the master is when I'm burning DVDs.
