It will explain how to install the wl driver in 8.04.

If you have a wired connection, you can try and get the system updated to the most recent updates and then go to System->Administration->Hardware Drivers and activate the Broadcom STA driver. If I recall correctly, the driver is not introduced into Hardy until kernel version 2.6.24-17.

The other option is to install 8.10. The driver comes with the installation. You just need to go to System->Administration->Hardware Drivers to activate the Broadcom STA driver.

After following the instructions in the first post, my wireless card is no longer even listed in the hardware. lshw -C network only lists the ethernet card, and lshw doesn't show anything either. It's as if it never existed.

The problem started the day before yesterday. Wireless was working fine, then I upgraded to the latest kernel. Wireless would connect, but no internet. I installed ndiswrapper to try the windows driver. Wireless was then no longer an option. So I uninstalled ndiswrapper, still nothing. Found this post and tried it... still no wireless card.

If the network card does not show up with lspci also, then it might be a hardware problem. Are you dual-booting? If so, can you try and see if the wireless card works on the other OS?

Yeah, I'm dual booting with Vista. The wireless card shows up and works fine.
