Question Update from 6.10 to 8.10

    Hi all,

I have strange old server Dell Poweredge 2500 and would like to install the server edition. I have tried both 7.10 and 8.10 and always ran into strange installation problem, cdrom could not be read)...

finally the version 6.10 installs fine and now my question. How do I update from 6.10.

I followed closely the instruction on http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgr...ef2d834eb197-2

but this does not work here.

    What am i doing wrong,

    thanks

Not to sound condescending but you did burn the other CDs as an ISO image, correct? I'd try one more 'gain just for posterity on d/l'ing & burning the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Server Edition ISO...

    Thanks for the reply,

Yes I downloaded the iso file and burned it with Nero. Tried it on different PC and also on different CDs, the same result for both 7.10 and 8.10. It seem sthat I am not the only one with this specific problem on theis specific server ....

    Thanks for any help

    Hi all,

    Just solved it.

I updated manually the sources.list file to include all links to Hardy and to dapper-updates .... and it seemed to have worked.

    Thanks
